History of the Library

In the fall of 2005 five ladies of the church took in the series "The Purpose Driven Life".  Challenged by the series to think of a ministry in which they could serve God, they envisioned a church library that would introduce people to God through books. As they continued to meet and go deeper into the series they discussed their vision for the library.  They made their proposal to the church and got the approval they had prayed for.  It was amazing how God encouraged & led them by continually opening the doors they needed to walk through; the surprise of having books donated from a Church in Medicine Hat, encouragement & support from the congregation for their help with the various fundraisers (bake sale, garage sale, book fair & fall supper), money & book donations, the room, book shelves, computer and a computerized book system to set up a library.  After many hours of work the library's doors were opened in November 2006.   In April, 2007 the library team appointed Evelyn Schwartz & Sheila Sesula as Librarians to run the library.  It was in January 2009 that they all realized it was not possible to run the library as a team and at that time Esther Wall, Jennifer Bauer and Verna Collinson became volunteer workers making themselves available to the librarians as needed.  As well three more volunteers workers were added Anne Holderbein, Amanda Wall, and Sheila Holderbein.  Currently the libarians Evelyn & Sheila have six volunteer workers to call on when needed.  If anyone is interested in becoming a library volunteer worker please contact Evelyn or Sheila.
