Library Policies
Anyone desiring to take out an item from the library must provide patron information for the library computer system. Whenever an item is taken out it is necessary to enter it in the sign out sheet on the desk with all the applicable information.
The length of the loan period for printed materials is three (3) weeks.
The recommended maximum number of items that may be checked out to a person at any one time is four (4), but exceptions apply.
If others are not waiting for a particular item, the item may be renewed and checkout time extended by notifying the librarians (refer to contact information in main).
Items not available at the desired time of checkout may be placed on reserve. When the specific item is returned to the library, the person is notified, and the item is held for that person until a specified date. Item not picked up by that date will be returned to the shelf or given to the next person on the reserve list for that item.
All items are to be checked out by entering all the applicable information in the checkout book on the library desk. No item may be removed from the library unless proper checkout procedures are followed. This applies even if the item is taken out for a very short period of time eg. An hour.
The librarians appreciate patrons informing them of lost or damaged items. Damaged items can often be repaired by the librarians. In the case of a loss, a period of time is allowed to search for the item. If the item cannot be found, the patron is responsible for the replacement cost. The patron is also responsible for the cost to repair any damaged item.
The library supports the small group programs of Eastside Church of God and their leadership.
Gifts to the library to honor or remember friends or loved ones are gladly accepted. Gifts may be made by filling out an Eastside Church of God offering envelope and designating money to the library or by contacting the librarian. The donor and librarian may make an item selection that meets the selection policy and the church’s needs.
All gifts of pre-owned materials to the library must meet the same standards as purchased items and must be in proper condition. Donations, such as used books and other media, may be added to the collection or disbursed to other areas needing resources. Unless specified, these donations will not be returned to the donor.
